On May 23, 1990, God sent a light into the world to be a beacon ofChrist's love. Marlon Geron Sanders, Sr. was gifted to the union MelindaPickens and Gerald Sanders. Marlon was reared in the city of Port Arthur,Texas. He was a 2009 graduate of Memorial High School and was class chaplain. Upon graduation, he made the decision to further his education and began attending Wiley College in Marshall, Texas where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He continued to pursue his career by attending Strayer University and on May 2, 2026, he was awarded a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from Wiley University. It was at Wiley, in 2015 where he met the love of his life and united in holy matrimony to Khalen Ward-Sanders on May 18, 2017. He was a devoted father to four beautiful children who were the added joys in his life.

Marlon was an example of God's loving spirit for his people. He devoted his time to inspiring and setting examples for youth in our community. He completed 10 years of service to Port Arthur ISD as a music teacher at Lucian Adams Elementary School. He was a member of the coaching staff for the Memorial High School football, baseball, track and field, and power lifting teams. He worked tirelessly in the youth programs of the YMCA for a number of years. He was an active member of the Mighty Mutha Theta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, In his recreational time, he was PA's famous "DJ Marty Mar" bringing the joy to every celebration he participated in.

Most importantly, Marlon was a true witness for His God. He was an ordained Deacon in the Greater True Vine Church where he also served as Armor Bearer for his pastor. Every Sunday he stood and testified through song his gracitude to God for his blessings and talents it serving as Praise and Worship leader.

He was proceeded in death by both grandmothers, Syliva Sanders and Josephine Franklin; grandfather, Alfred Sanders and a brother, Jhamiah Dixon. He leaves to cherish his memory and legacy, his wife, Khalen; his daughters, McKenzie, Khloe and Karsyn; his son Marlon Jr. (MJ); his parents, Melinda and Peter Pickens and Gerald Sanders; sisters, Mendy Phillips (Rev. Jarrod Phillips, Sr.) and Carya Jones; one brother, Dominique Thomas; special acknowledgement of Apostle R & M. P. Washington whom have been essential in Marlon's life; his nanny Deanna JeanLewis, and a host of relatives and friends.
